Help

Enough of the important stuff to keep Strategery useful, without turning this page into a hostage situation.

What This Thing Does

Strategery tracks product pages, checks the latest price on a schedule, and sends alert emails when the price drops below your target. It exists so you do not have to manually re-check the same listing like it is a personality trait.

Adding Items

  • Item Title: optional label for emails. If blank, the app uses the scraped product title.
  • Product URL: the page to track. Duplicate URLs for the same user are blocked, because tracking the same thing twice is not a strategy.
  • Target Price: when the live price is at or below this, the first alert sends immediately.
  • Check Freq: how often the worker checks the item. Examples: 30m, 2h, 1d 6h.
  • The admin-only playbook lives on Admin Help, because leaving destructive controls undocumented would be impressively dumb.

Reminder Policies

  • Hourly: reminder every hour while the item stays below target.
  • Daily: reminder every 24 hours from the last alert time, not from item creation or midnight. Because that would be a dumb clock.
  • Backoff: first reminder after 1 hour, then 1 day, then every 3 days.
  • Off: no repeat reminders. The initial drop alert still sends.
  • Custom: use your own interval like 3h or 2d.
  • Backoff reset: the backoff ladder resets when the item recovers above target, or when you intentionally change that item’s reminder policy.

Defaults vs Overrides

  • Your Profile page controls the default reminder policy for new items.
  • Each item can override that default with its own reminder policy and custom interval.
  • Changing your profile default does not retroactively rewrite every existing item, because surprise mass edits are a stupid feature.

Email Rules

  • Your Profile email field is one canonical account email. Identity should not double as a mailing list.
  • Item-level Alert To overrides the account email for that item only.
  • If Alert To is blank, alerts go to your account email by default.

Status Quick Read

  • OK: price was found and the check completed normally.
  • QUEUED: waiting for a worker check.
  • CHECKING: worker is on it right now.
  • NO_PRICE: page loaded, but price extraction failed.
  • UNAVAILABLE: listing exists, but the item currently is not available.
  • ERROR / TIMEOUT / CAPTCHA: scraping hit a real problem instead of politely succeeding.

Search, Sort, And Bulk Actions

  • The main item search updates live as you type.
  • Sort choices are remembered on your account now, not just in browser storage like a cheap little side note.
  • Bulk actions apply to the selected items on the current page.

Common Gotchas

  • Custom reminders must be a real duration like 90m, 3h, or 2d.
  • Off disables repeat reminders only. The first below-target alert still sends.
  • If a page keeps looking unchanged after a UI update, do a hard refresh before blaming the app. Browser cache loves cheap drama.
